Radin's double slit experiment
Radin carried out a series of six experiments designed to see if subjects could affect the outcome of the famous double-slit experiment. Participants were familiarised with double-slit experiment by watching a 5-min animation and then were led into a Faraday cage, where they were seated a few meters away from the apparatus. Radin found that subjects who practised meditation were able to reduce the interference pattern significantly (i.e. looked more like when there’s knowledge of which slit the photons are going through)compared with the normal interference pattern which occurred when no one was present. Results were 150, 000 against results being due to chance.
Radin also conducted experiments to determine whether variations in the geomagnetic field had any effect, as previous studies have shown a correlation with psi. Radin’s team found that it did. It contributed to the strength of the effect but did not explain it.
